After the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, NGIS Australia CEO Paul Harris spent a year working in Aceh and saw the success of projects where international NGOs worked closely with local NGOs on the ground. He later established the Extending the Limits Trust.

The Trust provides funding support to aid the development of economic security and social well being for families in disaster affected regions of South and South East Asia.
